April 16, 2010 - More federal resources and more coordinated and flexible housing programs are needed to solve Connecticut's housing and homelessness problems, according to new material on federal policy created by the Partnership for Strong Communities.
The papers were created for use in Washington meetings with Connecticut's U.S. Senators and Representatives in April 2010. The Partnership's analysis produced recommendations on housing production and preservation programs, tenant-based vouchers, services for people experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, and the Sustainable Communities act to coordinate housing, transportation and environment. The proposals urge continued commitment to longstanding existing programs and solutions advocated for years, as well as support for exciting new proposals offered by the Obama Administration.
