Innovations in Housing Affordability Print E-mail

July 6, 2010 - Hear Matthew Linden of ConsciousBuild present an innovative approach to affordable housing in San Luis Opisbo fostered by a builder, a housing authority, architecture students and a design firm.

Using recycled shipping containers, imagination and significant political will, 21 units of affordable housing--for people who are homeless--and a new central office for the housing authority are taking shape in the high cost housing market on the California coast.  ConsciousBuild, a design+build firm that specializes in green luxury housing has recently undertaken an innovative, cost-effective approach to making housing affordable for extremely low income people by converting shipping containers into homes.
